East Eden Volunteer Fire Department

Est. 1923 - Celebrating 100 Years of Service Download Application

Become a Firefighter

We welcome all who are interested in becoming a firefighter to contact any member or to stop in to the hall any Monday evenings.  We would be more than happy to show you around and answer any questions that you might have.

The application below can be mailed to the fire hall (attention to the Chief), handed to any member, or delivered in person any Monday evening after 7:00pm.

Our fire company has two types of membership:

  • Interior: Applicants will be sponsored to complete the state required ‘Firefighter I’ training course which will prepare them to perform full interior and exterior firefighting duties.
  • Exterior: Applicants will be sponsored to complete a state required ‘Fire Scene Operations’ training course (much reduced scope from the Interior Firefighter ‘I’ course) which will prepare them to perform exterior only firefighting duties.

While both types of membership carry a minimum age of 18, we strongly encourage anyone interested in the fire service to stop in and see what we do!

East Eden Fire Department

The East Eden Volunteer Fire Company, Inc. was established in 1923 as an all-volunteer not-for-profit Fire Company in the Town of Eden, New York. The Company is comprised of many active members who devote countless hours of their personal time to serve and protect the residents and property in the surrounding area. The Town of Eden covers 40 square miles and is protected by services split between the Eden and East Eden Fire Companies.

The East Eden Fire Company covers an area of approximately 40 square miles on a first alarm, automatic mutual aid basis. Although our district is mostly comprised of agricultural operations and residential dwellings, our immediate fire protection area within the Town has three public schools, two main highways (including part of the NYS Thruway), numerous businesses, two gas stations, and many large farms. We also protect four churches, two elderly care facilities, and several homes with physically-impaired individuals.

In addition, we are responsible for the safety of a large Natural Gas Distribution Facility (located less than a mile from our fire hall). This facility, around 100 acres in size, is a major hub for transporting natural gas to the entire Northeast United States. This Natural Gas Distribution Facility holds immense potential for a large-scale emergency in the Town of Eden, as does the railroad tracks crossing through town. These tracks regularly carry large amounts of liquid propane to a distribution facility in North Collins.
